A Year of Hitchcock

52 Weeks with the Master of Suspense

This is a friendly and easy-going examination of the films of Alfred Hitchcock, one of the greatest of all directors.  The authors look at each of Hitchcock’s sound films (passing on the silents) in chronological order.  Each is assessed for quality and described as to how it fits in with Hitchcock’s recurring themes.  Stories of the making of each film are included, along with interesting trivia.  The authors even point out precisely where, in each film, Hitchcock makes his trademark cameo appearance.  Whether a newcomer or a dedicated fan, the book is pleasant and fun way to look at some terrific films, some good ones, a few that are so-so, and, yes, some duds.  (Hey, even the greatest have their failures.)
