The City of Appleton, and key partner Appleton Downtown Inc, are working with architectural and planning firm Short Elliot Hendrickson Inc (SEH) to update the city comprehensive plan in order to craft a roadmap to help guide the next phase of public and private investment within the city. The current 20-year City of Appleton Comprehensive Plan was adopted in March of 2010.
The goal is to conduct an in-depth rewrite of the Downtown Plan (Chapter 14 in the current comprehensive plan) as well as provide an overall update to the comprehensive plan, including the city’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan (Chapter 18). As part of the rewrite, community input is being sought. SEH has created a website for the comprehensive plan (called Envision Appleton), where you can stay informed. A few workshops have already taken place, and there are more opportunities to attend events in the near future. There are other ways you can get involved as well. You can provide feedback on the Envision Appleton website. There is also a feature where you can add your ideas/suggestions of how you envision Appleton on an interactive map.
